Rumor has it that Bethesda’s anticipated space RPG Starfield is being delayed again. This is indicated by a new entry in the SteamDB database.
When is Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi role-playing game, Starfield, coming out? Originally, November 11, 2022 was slated to be the release date, but last May, the publisher had to announce a first postponement of the Starfield release. So the current year release became a planned start of sales in the first half of 2023. Resourceful users were already speculating that March 23, 2023 could be a possible release date – the background for this was an Easter egg spotted in the published gameplay trailer Starfield .
Rumors have it that that hope is now further tempered. Reddit users have discovered a change to the expected release date on the Steam database SteamDB, so Starfield wasn’t able to release until December 29, 2023, according to the website. According to the SteamDB entry, this date refers to a change to the store API of Starfield’s Steam site, but may not be true, as SteamDB itself writes.
Bethesda has neither confirmed nor denied the burgeoning speculation. In addition to a possible further release date delay, Reddit continues to speculate about what the change in SteamDB information is about. December 29, 2023 as the release date may just be a placeholder until more information about the Starfield release is announced.
On the other hand, Starfield would not be Bethesda’s first major game to be released at the end of the year: Skyrim (2011) and Fallout 4 (2015) were released in November of the respective year – accordingly, Bethesda would also release Starfield in time for the Christmas business.
