VfL Bochum: Big disappointment for Antwi-Adjei

Three VfL Bochum players hoped for the World Cup in Qatar. Only Takuma Asano is there. Christopher Antwi-Adjei is not in the Ghanaian selection.

Otto Addo, coach of the African World Cup candidates, announced his selection and Antwi-Adjei is not one of them. In recent weeks, under coach Thomas Letsch, he led the fire with 1-0 against Borussia Mönchengladbach and 1-0 at FC Augsburg. He has already doubled his goal quota from last season. The 28-year-old caused a lot of confusion among the respective opponents with his speed.

However, it did not work out for the World Cup team of Ghana. The only Bundesliga professional in the selection of national coach Addo is Daniel-Kofi Kyereh from SC Freiburg, who is also a winger. Ghana will meet Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in their preliminary round.

Antwi-Adjei, born in Hagen, with family Ghanaian roots, played three international matches for Ghana, two of which last June. However, he missed the international matches in September due to injuries and a lack of training.

Masovic’s Bochum World Cup dream has come true

The World Cup dream of Erhan Masovic. The defender is not part of Serbia’s 26-man squad. Of the Bundesliga, only defender Milos Veljkovic from SV Werder Bremen is there for Serbia. Masovic made his debut for Serbia in June and also went the distance in a 4-1 win against Sweden at the end of September.

The 23-year-old recently missed three VfL matches with adductor problems, but celebrated his comeback in the closing stages after being substituted in Augsburg. Serbia will meet Brazil, Cameroon and Switzerland in the preliminary round.

Asano meets Germany with Japan

Takuma Asano meanwhile, that was certain for a long time, is part of Japan’s squad. After tearing the inner tube of his knee in the 3-1 defeat at Schalke in mid-September, he returned to team training last week. The winger, who has already played 36 international matches, will meet Germany on Wednesday, November 23 (2 p.m. local time). The matches against Costa Rica and Spain will follow.

Masovic and Antwi-Adjei are among the professionals who will train again on Tuesday and come to the club’s general meeting. After that they will go on vacation, training will not resume until December 2nd.
