The pros of VfB Stuttgart completed their third training day during their trip to the USA. Not only exercises on the football field were on the program.
As a tourist in Austin, you can experience a lot – even in one day. This also applies to clubs in the Bundesliga. The program of VfB Stuttgart on Thursday was in any case quite extensive.
But first, on the third day after arriving in the USA, it was time to face the fatigue again. On Wednesday evening, the VfB team was a guest at the home game of the Dallas Mavericks. Later in the evening we went back to Austin, so no player went to bed before 2am. On Thursday, the third training so far during the trip to the USA was not scheduled until 1 p.m. But there was another reason.
Anyone who reached the location a few minutes before the start of training at the St. David’s Performance Center in Stuttgart saw the new guests with whom VfB now has to share the training location. The players of 1. FC Köln have completed their first session in the USA, the opponents of VfB in the Bundesliga arrived in the USA on Wednesday.
Two appointments for the fans
Numerous VfB fans had arrived on the training ground before the session started and the Thursday session was finally announced as a public session. And so VfB’s American supporters, some of whom had come from all over the country, mingled with those who had come over from Germany with their favorite club. There were about 150 spectators. In the evening they met again at the fan meeting in the heart of Austin at the invitation of the German-Texan Heritage Society.
Before that, the VfB pros completed another fairly easy session – this time on the artificial turf of the small stadium on Austin FC’s training ground. They will return there one last time on Friday (10 a.m. local time) for the friendly against 1. FC Köln on Saturday.
Some VfB professionals had PR appointments after the training. Luca Pfeiffer and Juan José Perea visited an Irish pub that regularly broadcasts Bundesliga matches live. Meanwhile, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Dan-Axel Zagadou, together with some colleagues from Cologne, advertised the game in the Q2 stadium on Saturday.
