The Game Awards 2022: playing time will be shortened

In 2022, The Game Awards will once again be the last major event of the year. As confirmed by producer and host Geoff Keighley, community feedback has been taken to heart and the runtime of The Game Awards 2022 will be shortened. Despite everything, more than 50 games are waiting for us.

As in previous years, producer and presenter Geoff Keighley wants to provide an exciting end to the video game year with The Game Awards in 2022.

In an interview with Video Games FN, Keighley spoke about the work on this year’s spin-off and pointed out that those responsible were taking player feedback to heart. Among other things, the makers of The Game Awards have recently faced criticism that some events have been artificially extended.

Feedback Keighley took into account when designing The Game Awards 2022, which will result in a shorter run this year. Despite everything, as many as 50 games are promised – including one or two world premieres.

In the past there were only a few leaks to complain about

Another topic Keighley was asked about during the interview is potential leaks leading up to The Game Awards. Fortunately, according to Keighley, developers and publishers have rarely encountered leaks in recent years — even if, of course, they can never be completely prevented.

Keighley continued: “It’s always tough because when there’s more than 50 games involved, something always leaks out. But yeah. We’ve had – knock on wood – a pretty good history with the show and usually have a few surprises in store.”
