Rot-Weiss Essen takes action: RWE has issued 76 restraining orders for home games. The active fan scene reacts to this during the match in Freiburg.
Red and white food takes action: the third division football team has banned 76 supporters from its home games on Hafenstrasse. Next Monday (October 10), RWE wants to make an official statement and provide further information, the club announced on the sidelines of the game at SC Freiburg II on Sunday afternoon.
The active RWE fan scene already reacted to this during the away game in Freiburg. The fence flags of the ultragroups in the guest block were upside down, there was hardly any support in the first half – that changed in the second half.
Rot-Weiss Essen: Dispute between fans and team after beating Aue
Already in August there was a dispute between Rot-Weiss Essen and parts of the active fan scene. After the match at SpVgg Bayreuth, an argument arose between RWE supporters at a rest area where the team was at the same time. A week later, after the first win of the season against Aue, the players decided not to celebrate an elaborate victory party in front of their own fans.
The west stand in Essen responded with whistles, mocking and insulting songs to their own team. The pros then announced in an open letter that they wanted to protest with this action against the “cowardly and brutal attack” by RWE fans on RWE fans. The argument “troubled and alerted the team,” according to the letter Rot-Weiss Essen shared on its website.
House bans: Rot-Weiss Essen wants to speak out
The self-critical letter from the pros came in – the team was supported by the RWE supporters who had traveled with them in the Osnabrück match that followed. The active scene has also unconditionally supported the third division team over the past few days. In Freiburg that was not the case for 45 minutes. RWE will explain the exact background to this on Monday. (yeah with haro)
