YouTuber ChrisDaCow has recreated the universe with its planets, stars and galaxies in Minecraft. In a video he explains exactly how he was able to do this.
Who is ChrisDaCow? The YouTuber’s name may be familiar to some Minecraft fans. He is active in the scene and has released several great videos of his spectacular builds in the game. These include, for example, Vincent van Gogh’s “Starry Night” painting or huge medieval castles.
Although his previous projects were already huge and cost him many months of work, ChrisDaCow decided to take it one step further in his latest video. He recreated the universe in Minecraft, albeit a little smaller than it actually is.
“Okay, you’ve completed Minecraft.”
how did he do that? The YouTuber’s building project started out relatively small, initially rebuilding the Earth in Minecraft. He used World Edit for this, which required the planets to be about 700,000 times smaller than the originals or they wouldn’t fit in the game.
The buildings were still huge. For Earth alone, it took ChrisDaCow 3 days of labor to complete. Then he went to the solar system.
On the individual planets, the rings of Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune were the hardest, but the sun also gave the YouTuber some work. He wanted it to look like “hot radioactive death,” so he used the brightest colors and created solar flares.
After the solar system also became too small for ChrisDaCow, he started building other cosmic objects. These include, for example, the Pillars of Creation, which were first photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995. The YouTuber used the photo as a template for his building project.
After the pillars were completed, the YouTuber proceeded to create a black hole that looked just like the one from the Interstellar movie. According to his own statement, it was the hardest thing he’s built in the 9 years he’s been playing Minecraft. This was followed by the various galaxies and finally the Universe proper.
There are these reactions: ChrisDaCow was celebrated by the community on social media, reddit and YouTube for his creation. His video received more than 116,000 upvotes and more than 2,600 comments on the Minecraft subreddit, and an additional 26,000 upvotes on r/minecraftbuilds.
In the comments, users were amazed at the size and beauty of the project. Many congratulated him on the completion of construction and showered him with awards.
- “Okay, you’ve completed Minecraft. That’s insanely impressive.” – Druss_Rua
- “If this doesn’t become one of the top posts on the subreddit, I’m offended. There are very few people in the world who can do what you do. […]“ – Filqon
- “It’s really damn impressive. Well done!” – gigagone
Even Xbox’s official UK Twitter account was impressed and shared the YouTuber’s video with its followers.
According to ChrisDaCow’s own statement, the construction project took about 2 months of continuous work. In the comments on reddit, he hasn’t revealed where his journey will take him next, but it will certainly be something equally gigantic.
