On Sunday (9 October 2022), Gladbach is not only allowed to celebrate an exuberant derby victory. But also a historic moment. Borussia overtook a former heavyweight in the competition with a 5-2 win over Cologne.
The details: The derby gala against arch-rivals 1. FC Köln helped Borussia Mönchengladbach move up the Bundesliga “all-time table” with Hamburger SV, the league’s founder, winners of the European Cup winners (1977) and national champions (1983 ), to pass.
Gladbach: Borussia passes Hamburger SV – Stuttgart must tremble
Elf vom Niederrhein now occupies an impressive fifth place in the ranking of all German clubs that have competed for goals, points and the championship trophy since the Bundesliga was founded on 28 July 1962.
With a total of 55 years in the Bundesliga, Borussia now has 2,734 points on the all-time table.
Figures, data, facts that show how wonderfully this club near the Dutch border has stood for decades in competition with the clubs from the metropolises of our republic.

And Gladbach could soon run past another great traditional club in the “eternal table” – and it’s called VfB Stuttgart.
The Swabians (56 years in the Bundesliga) currently have 2,737 points on their list, putting them just three points ahead of Borussia.
A narrow lead that is no cushion for VfB.
That means: if the foals under coach Daniel Farke (48) win more in the coming weeks, Borussia could even slip to fourth place on the all-time table in this first leg of the Bundesliga.

As a reminder, Gladbach is a club that always finances its licensed players’ division with on-board funds, without a big-city spec, patron, investor, or mega-sponsor of a car factory.
And what about the other Rhenish clubs in the all-time Bundesliga table at the moment? 1. FC Köln is ninth with 2,428 points, ahead of Bayer Leverkusen in tenth (2,309 points).
The undisputed leader in the all-time table is Bayern Munich with 3,940 points. Followed by Borussia Dortmund (3,024) and Werder Bremen (2,901).
At the bottom of all 56 clubs in the all-time Bundesliga table, Tasmania Berlin is still with ten points.
