Fürth can’t win either
Relegated Arminia is working hard on descent number 2

Almost three minutes into the second half of the game against KSC, Arminia Bielefeld, who has been relegated to the Bundesliga, looks pretty good. The East Westphalia can equalize, then the game slips away from them again. Co-relegated Greuther Fürth has not yet arrived in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Arminia Bielefeld – Karlsruher SC 1:2 (0:1)

The worries of second division Arminia Bielefeld are growing. Coach Daniel Scherning’s team lost to Karlsruher SC 1:2 (0:1) and remains at the bottom of the ranking after the eleventh match day. The Gaming Commission, on the other hand, aims for the top places in the table. After goals from Fabian Schleusener (43rd) and Marvin Wanitzek (54th), the former Bundesliga club improved to sixth place, at least for now. Janni Serra had meanwhile equalized (52nd).

Scherning changed his team to six positions from the disappointing performance in Düsseldorf (1:4). However, the substitution in front of 18,066 spectators did not bring the game of the relegated team from the Bundesliga. Karlsruhe dominated and was unlucky when Schleusener headed the post (9′). Arminia hardly showed any offensive actions, it was only when Guilherme Ramos scored in the first half that it became dangerous (23rd). The visitors remained the clearly better team and went into halftime with a deserved lead. After a long ball, Schleusener kept his nerves for goalkeeper Martin Fraisl.

Bielefeld came out of the locker room with considerably more momentum and was soon rewarded. Serra scored the equalizer with a nice swipe. However, KSC was not impressed and took the lead again via Wanitzek. The game was now more open, Serra missed KSC goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck (57th).

Jahn Regensburg – Greuther Furth 2:2 (1:1)

Bundesliga relegated SpVgg Greuther Fürth narrowly avoided a major setback on the way out of the bottom of the table. After all, the Franks fought a 2-2 (1-1) victory at Jahn Regensburg on matchday of the eleventh second division team and moved up to 16th place for the time being by the third game in a row without defeat. Damian Michalski (34′) gave Fürth the lead, Kaan Caliskaner (42′) equalized for SSV Jahn and made it 2-1 after the substitution (62′). Simon Asta (75th) saved the guests at least one point – the ninth this season. Regensburg (12 points) is eleventh.

Regensburg, who had gone goalless four times and six goals (0:6 against Karlsruhe) once in the five home games before, started playing in front of 10,716 spectators and had more of the game against conservative guests. Fürth surprisingly took the lead when Michalski dusted off a free kick from close range. But Regensburg also scored from a kickstand, Caliskaner was successful after a corner with a thigh. In the second half, Fürth was initially more active, but Caliskaner again celebrated – this time in the best way with a dry shot from seven meters. Fürth showed morale, at the start of a heated final phase Asta scored with a nice direct acceptance.
