If BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke does not conjure up a sensational contract extension, Dortmund will probably have to give up its superstar Jude Bellingham in the summer. The much sought-after 19-year-old only has one contract there until 2024, so a really high transfer fee – which BVB can certainly hope for – could be in the pocket by next year at the latest.

In 103 appearances for BVB to date, Bellingham has scored 14 goals and provided 20 assists.

Only three weeks ago it was announced that three Premier League clubs, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, were already preparing offers for Bellingham. According to the “Sun”, all three competitors are willing to put up to 100 million pounds (114 million euros) on the table.

Liverpool presents in the bet, Bellingham beckons mega salary

According to the Catalan portal “El Nacional”, Bellingham is also at the top of Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez’s shopping list. According to the ideas of the 75-year-old, in the future, the England national player should give his identity to the “Royal” midfield, similar to Toni Kroos earlier.

Pérez would be all the more upset when he realized that the English league was already several steps ahead of him in Bellingham poker: According to “El Nacional”, Liverpool FC offers him an annual salary of around 18 million pounds (some 20.5 million euros).

In comparison, Erling Haaland, whose transfer poker even Bayern wanted nothing to do for financial reasons (and who is now skyrocketing the Premier League), probably earns around £19.5 million a year. Only Cristiano Ronaldo’s salary should be a category bigger.

Bellingham could be more expensive than Haaland – Real unlikely to bid

The offer from the “Reds” would immediately make Bellingham one of the highest paid Premier League professionals. When you consider that Haaland “only” cost a fixed fee of 60 million euros in addition to his salary (while Bellingham probably has no exit clause), the deal with Bellingham could even be more expensive than signing the Norwegian.

That Liverpool should be the driving force in such an inflationary business is surprising. Because over the course of the Haaland poker, LFC coach Jürgen Klopp had said several times: “We’re not going to do it. The numbers in the room are crazy – we have nothing to do with it.”

The fact that Liverpool are now one of those clubs offering in these “crazy” realms could have alienated at least one competitor: According to “El Nacional”, Real Madrid should not be willing to bid on the same scale. Perez would pay Bellingham a maximum of half. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea and Manchester City, with their generous owners, will also be deterred.
