FC Barcelona again first thanks to Pedri – 1-0 against Celta Vigo

FC Barcelona is still first in La Liga. The Catalans also needed luck after a strong start against Celta Vigo.

It was only a matter of time given the first-half play and Barcelona’s well-deserved lead at the time: Pedri shot in from close range after a foul on Celta Vigo’s back line. However, the victory over Celta Vigo was not as certain as initially thought.

Marchesin initially often on site

The 1-0 should in any case remain the only goal of the evening. And that despite the fact that Barca had countless opportunities before the crucial 17th minute. Neither Raphinha from long distance (10′) nor Ferran Torres from close range (13′) could get past Marchesin.

After the strong initial phase, the deluge of opportunities for the Catalans was over. These rightly led to the break, but the 1:0 crumbled after the change of camp. Celta Vigo’s Oscar (47th) missed miserably and Ter Stegen made strong saves against Gabri Veiga (56th) and Iago Aspas (84th).

Lucky post just before the end

Not much is allowed to happen in the penalty areas for a long time, Barça acted carelessly, while Vigo gave everything. In added time, things got really tricky: Garcia got Iago Aspas’s shot just off the post (90’+3) and Ter Stegen excelled against Perez (90’+6).

Xavi’s team eventually triumphed somewhat happily after a 1-0 loss to Inter Milan, their second loss in three matches of the Champions League group stage this season, and kept their lead in La Liga.
