Since the spring of 2020, they have been the measure of all things: the incidence rates. But that could now change with the new test strategy. Lake

In some districts, the health authorities are sometimes late in passing on their data. Therefore, there are always gaps in the transmission of the current corona figures, especially on weekends – but experience shows that the missing data is reported later in the following days. In addition, experts in the country assume that there are many unreported cases of new infections, as many patients no longer take PCR tests and thus do not appear in the statistics.

The corona figures are not updated on on Saturday and Sunday because too few health authorities transmit values during the weekend. For this reason, the National Registration Office no longer publishes current values on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hospitalization is 11.43

According to the latest data, the number of hospital admissions, which plays an important role in the assessment of the corona situation for health care, is 11.43 (Friday: 10.71). This value indicates the number of Covid-19 hospitalized cases among cases reported in the past seven days per 100,000 people. This value is usually not updated on weekends and holidays.

Our map shows the incidence rates of the neighborhoods in SH. To see the respective values, hover over the circles (desktop) or tap the corresponding circle (smartphone and tablet).

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) usually updates its data in the morning, but sometimes only in the afternoon – the state figures are usually published the night before. As a result, the numbers on the map do not always match the numbers in the text.

Due to the delay in reporting, the RKI values usually do not match the infection process, but are too low. As a second number, we therefore provide an estimate of how high the seven-day incidence could be without delay in reporting. This value is closer to the real development of the pandemic. You can see it if you click on one of the circles. Read here more about the incidence values.

Incidence in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district is still highest

The Rendsburg-Eckernförde district has the highest regional incidence with 926.6 (Friday: 716.2). The districts of Plön follow with 859.0 (Friday: 621.5) and Ostholstein with 833.6 (Friday: 637.6).

The districts of Segeberg with 440.8 (Friday: 455.4), Stormarn with 459.2 (Friday: 390.4) and Pinneberg with 503.3 (Friday: 419.1) have the lowest incidences.

Vaccinations against the coronavirus

Since December 27, 2020, people in Schleswig-Holstein have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The vaccination rate indicates the percentage of northern Germans who have already received the first vaccination dose.

The situation in the clinics in SH

The country’s hospitals are currently treating 730 (+41) people who have tested positive for Corona. 50 (+2) Covid patients are in intensive care, 22 (+3) of them need to be on a ventilator.

The map shows the occupation of the North German intensive care units. The darker it is colored, the higher the proportion of Covid-19 patients. The map also shows that some intensive care units are already busy, even without corona cases.

What these numbers say – and what don’t?

State government statistics show how many confirmed corona infections are known to authorities in the state and reported in the intended manner. What the statistics cannot clearly show, especially for the current time, is the speed at which the virus is spreading. Because the number of people who have just tested positive usually also includes cases that were only reported after a few days. There is a delay in the notification chain, especially around weekends and holidays.

Regional corona data on the infection process

Some administrations publish a regional evaluation of the corona figures, but usually not up-to-date. A selection:
