The number of people in Schleswig-Holstein who have been shown to be infected with the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic stands at 1,107,391. According to an estimate by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), approximately 1,071,100 Schleswig-Holsteiners are considered to have recovered. In connection with the viral disease Covid-19, according to the current State registry office statistics recorded ten new deaths. The total number of deceased is 3,109.
In some districts, the health authorities are sometimes late in transmitting their data. That is why there are always gaps in the transfer of the current corona figures, especially at the weekend. Experience shows that the missing data is reported later in the following days. In addition, experts in the country assume that there are a large number of unreported cases of new infections, since many patients no longer take a PCR test and are therefore not included in the statistics.
The corona figures will not be updated on NDR.de/sh on Saturday and Sunday because too few health authorities are reporting values over the weekend. For this reason, the National Registration Office no longer publishes current values on Saturdays and Sundays.
Hospital admission rises to 7.91
According to current data, the number of hospitalizations, which plays an important role in the assessment of the corona situation for the health system, is 7.91 (day before: 7.60). This value indicates the number of hospitalized cases of Covid-19 among cases reported per 100,000 people in the past seven days. This value is usually not updated on weekends and holidays.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) usually updates its data in the morning, but sometimes as late as the afternoon – state figures are usually released the night before. As a result, the numbers on the map do not always match the numbers in the text.
Due to the delay in reporting, the RKI values usually do not match the infection process, but are too low. As a second number, we therefore provide an estimate of how high the seven-day incidence could be without a delay in reporting. This value is closer to the actual development of the pandemic. You can see it if you click on one of the circles. Read more about the incidence rates here.

What these numbers say – and what they don’t
State government statistics show how many confirmed corona infections are known to state authorities and reported in the intended manner. What the statistics cannot clearly show, and certainly not for today, is the speed at which the virus is spreading. Because the number of people who have just tested positive usually also includes cases that were reported after a few days. There are delays in the reporting chain especially around weekends and holidays.
