Black Friday & Cyber Monday 2022: you need to know

During Black Friday, the preceding Cyber Week and Cyber Monday, many suppliers of electrical goods in particular lure people to their stores and webshops with special offers, quantity discounts and giveaways.

This marks the beginning of the hot phase of the pre-Christmas business for retailers. Kitchen appliances are also among the discounted items as typical Christmas gifts. So, especially if you don’t insist on a specific model, chances are you’ll find a quality coffee machine for a lower price than usual at the time.

But before you look for a particularly cheap device, you should first find out whether a fully automatic coffee machine is really a wise purchase for you – and if so, which models are right for you.

Because if you have a fever in the bargain, you can quickly lose your head and buy a device that doesn’t even meet your personal requirements. Consumer lawyers advise not to let yourself be pressured and to properly question the offers.

Fully automatic coffee machine: is it worth the investment?

More than half of Germans trust the versatile fully automatic coffee machines. Although these are significantly more expensive to purchase than smaller capsule machines, the follow-up costs are lower because you choose the coffee you use yourself and are not dependent on the capsules from a specific manufacturer.

Compared to the capsule machines, the price per cup advantageous when using a fully automatic coffee machine: assuming a price of 18 euros for a kilo of coffee, that is about 12 cents per cup. A coffee capsule from brand manufacturers, on the other hand, costs 25-50 cents each.

Assuming a two-person household, in which everyone drinks three cups of coffee a day (this is the average value for Germany), a fully automatic coffee machine pays for itself in comparison with a capsule machine only 20 months after purchase. Because the small aluminum capsules do not always have to be thrown away, there is less waste.

Better coffee from the fully automatic machine?

Coffee from the fully automatic machine is also considered to be significantly more aromatic than that from a capsule machine, because the beans are freshly brewed immediately after grinding. This allows their full aroma to unfold. This is not possible with coffee from capsule machines or filter coffee.

Because you are not tied to a specific manufacturer when selecting the beans, you can make your own choice: maybe you already have a favorite roaster, or you like to look for special offers from different manufacturers.

You can also make various coffee drinks with a fully automatic machine – whether it’s espresso and Americano or latte macchiato, flat white, and cappuccino. For the latter, many fully automatic machines also have a system for frothing milk.

However, the relatively high purchase price of fully automatic coffee machines can initially be a deterrent. It is therefore particularly worthwhile to rely on special offers and discount promotions for these devices.

Black Friday coffee machine: the right size

To find the right coffee machine for your needs, you should first consider how many people will use it to make regular coffee: a family with only two or three coffee drinkers should be able to get by with a model with a small water tank (about 1.2 liters). ).

On the other hand, if you often want to make several cups of coffee at once, you should end up in the middle class. Water tanks of 2.5 liters and bean compartments with a capacity of 500 grams of coffee beans only make sense with intensive use – for example in the office. After all, the water has to be changed every day and the aroma of the coffee beans also decreases over time.

Fully automatic coffee machine with milk frother or spout?

Depending on whether you drink your coffee black or are a fan of drinks with a lot of hot and frothy milk, you should take a closer look at the milk frothing function. If you only want to make milk foam occasionally, you can use a model with an integrated milk foam nozzle.

If coffee is synonymous with cappuccino or latte macchiato for you, it is more convenient to prepare it in a machine with a milk frothing system with its own milk container and hose.

Fully automatic coffee machines: which grinder is the right one?

Volume is also a decision factor that should not be neglected: if the coffee drinkers in your household have to leave the house at different times, you probably appreciate a particularly quiet grinder. Ceramic grinders are generally less noisy than steel grinders.
