On the night of the RTL fundraising marathon for children in need, Günther Jauch was confident that “another big chunk” would come as part of the big celebrity “Who wants to be a millionaire?” special. Everything the four celebrities earned on the show would be donated to charity. Singer Max Mutzke, presenter Jan Köppen, TV garden presenter Andrea Kiewel and former WWM candidate Bastian Bielendorfer participated.

“Let’s start with Mark Mutzke…uh, Max Mutzke,” Günther Jauch introduced the first celebrity, who wasn’t completely accident-free. “It’s off to a good start,” the moderator admitted self-critically. The 41-year-old singer/songwriter lives in Waldshut-Tiengen. “Never heard of it”, Jauch admitted, and Mutzke gave him a helping hand: “We live in the south of Germany, in the Black Forest, at an altitude of 1000 meters.”

The viewers later learned that Mutze was volunteering there as a snowplow driver: “It’s super romantic — you’re either driving into the night at sunset or the night out into the sunrise,” he gushed.

The colleagues behind him eagerly helped with the first quiz questions. Especially with the question of 1000 euros: “Which home remedy is often recommended to keep mosquitoes away?”. The choices were: orange with tulips, lemon with cloves, kiwi with roses or pineapple with orchids. “Roses are expensive, just like tulips and orchids,” Andrea Kiewel waved the pole. Colleague Jan Köppen was even clearer: “That is a comment from B-right.” So Max Mutzke knew: answer B (“Lemon with cloves”) was correct.

Mutzke was so pleased with the controlled demand of 2,000 euros that he tipped his hat. In accordance with his “haircut”, the question of 4,000 euros read: “As a generalization, a daily loss of up to …?” 10, 100, 1000 or 10,000 hairs? He turned around and asked the participants if they thought B was “fair”. They eagerly agreed.

“That was the last concerted effort,” Jauch lamented. However, the next community of thinkers was not long in coming: Max Mutzke tried the public prankster, who helped him to 16,000 euros. The singer earned a total of 64,000 euros.

Günther Jauch provides first aid

He was followed by moderator Jan Köppen (“Ninja Warrior Germany”), who provided a memorable moment together with Günther Jauch. After “stable lateral position” was the correct answer to the 2000 euro question, the two men tried to demonstrate it. Köppen dropped to the ground with stuntman verve, obligingly asked if he should yearn for more realism and let Jauch bend over – much to the delight of the audience.

“I can’t participate, I’m lifeless,” said Köppen. Jauch’s first aid course was decades ago, as he admitted, but somehow it worked. Köppen also earned 64,000 euros.

“Fernsehgarten” presenter Andrea Kiewel should know as the next celebrity candidate for 500 euros, which can be trained with muscle exercises. “Wing-arms” was right. Jauch was sure she couldn’t be bothered by it – because of her past as a swimmer in the GDR national team. In one photo, she was seen in a bathing suit. “I still got it,” Kiewel said, sporting her past her “biggest dream as a young girl.”

Uncrowned quiz queen: Andrea Kiewel

After the question of 16,000 euros, Günther Jauch suggested that he devote himself to “the most important and most topical of the day”. “My love life?” Kievel asked. Jauch actually wanted to switch to “RTL Direkt”. Kiewel clapped his hands in front of his face, “Oh God, that’s embarrassing!”

After the break, Kiewel explained that after her time as a teacher, she actually wanted to be a journalist. “Then I studied German and sports and ended up as a showgirl in the ‘Fernsehgarten’,” she sums up. “And there’s no show I’d rather host. For 22 years.” All in all, Kiewel earned 125,000 euros – more than the other colleagues.

The final candidate for Jauch’s fare seat was Bastian Bielendorfer. “Twelve years ago he was here as a perfectly normal candidate and twelve years later in ‘WWM’ celebrity,” Jauch suggested to him. A clip showed how Bielendorfer’s icy father had acted as a phone joke at the time.

“Let’s Dance” partner motivates Bastian Bielendorfer

The TV appearance was the cornerstone “for everything I did after that,” Bielendorfer said. Among other things, he wrote a book about his life as a teacher’s child. “Send us the manuscript, your family is so crazy, we’ll make it a bestseller,” a publisher said at the time. Bastian Bielendorfer later danced to “Let’s Dance”. He also performs as a comedian.

Max Mutzke alluded to the nasty Papa Bielendorfer several times. Again and again he advised his comrade-in-arms: “Call your father!”

Andrea Kiewel laughed her head off and spent more time on the couch than sitting in these moments. A video player lady built up the candidate much more sensitively – his former “Let’s Dance” dance partner Ekaterina Leonova: “Honey! You know everything, you can do anything, you can do anything, I believe in you.” To avoid misunderstandings: the two were just a couple on the floor, both are assigned elsewhere. Bielendorfer also earned 64,000 euros.

In total, the celebrities earned 317,000 euros for children in need.
